Godhan NYAY a new hope for women entrepreneurs
The Godhan NYAY Yojana in Chhattisgarh has emerged as a new hope for women who manufacture vermicompost and do other economic activities in Gauthans.
It has resulted in empowering the women economically and providing them livelihood options.
Members of the Sadguru Women Self-help Group and Farmer Welfare Committee in the Gauthan of Donde village in Pakhanjur Tehsil have earned Rs. 21.57 lakh through the manufacture of vermicompost, pisciculture, mushroom, vegetable cultivation, poultry farming and from the sale of earthen lamps prepared from cow dung.
The President of the Sadguru Women’s Self-Help Group, Nareshwari Kotwar, said the women in her group are manufacturing vermicompost from the cow dung purchased in Gauthans.
She said 13,200 quintals of cow dung were purchased in Gauthan; 3,614.92 quintals of vermicompost and 570 quintals of supercompost were manufactured by cooperative committees. This helped them earn a net income of Rs. 15.07 lakh.
Additionally, the sale of earthworms fetched them Rs. 1.77 lakh.
All 19 members of the women’s self-help group have earned Rs. 113,000 each, which enabled them to arrange fee for their children’s education.

UAE to Host World’s Largest Conservation Conference in 2025

PM-Kisan Scheme: Empowering Indian Farmers for a Resilient Agriculture Sector
At Pathikonda in Kurnool district, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, provided financial aid to farmers for the fifth consecutive year through the YSR Rythu Bharosa-PM Kisan program. In this year’s initial installment, CM Jagan distributed a total of Rs 3,923.21 crore to 52,30,939 farmers.
Consequently, each farmer received Rs 5,500 directly into their bank accounts from the YSRCP state government, in addition to an extra Rs 2,000 from the Centre as a component of the PM Kisan Yojana.
NIRF Ranking 2023: IIT Madras retains gets top spot
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras has retained the top spot in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF), 2023 for the fifth consecutive year, while the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru has been ranked as the best university, according to the Ministry of Education. Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal has flagged off the maiden International Cruise Vessel “MV Empress”, India’s first international cruise vessel – from Chennai to Sri Lanka in Chennai. This marks the beginning of the international cruise tourism terminal at Chennai, built at a cost of Rs 17.21 crores, heralding a new age of cruise tourism and maritime trade in the country.
The launch of the MV Empress is a major boost for cruise tourism in India. The country has a long coastline and a rich history and culture, which make it an attractive destination for cruise passengers.
