CHHATTISGARH Nabard helps state with rs 4,486 cr during 2017-18 The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has assisted Chhattisgarh with Rs 4,486 crore during the financial year 2017-18. This was 76% higher than that of the assistance given during last two years. Under ‘Saur Sujala Scheme’, targetted beneficiaries were mainly small farmers in un-electrified areas of remote habitations. CHHATTISGARH PM safe maternity campaign’ a boon for state’ Prime Minister Safe Maternity Campaign’ is proving to be a boon for Chhattisgarh, officials informed. As a result of better implementation of this scheme by Health and Family Welfare Department, till date 3.77 lakh pregnant women have been examined and provided medical treatment. It is noteworthy that under this scheme, pregnant women are provided free medicines, after check-up. Kingdom of Vijaynagar The kingdom of Vijaynagar founded by two brothers, Harihar and Bukka, on the south bank of the River Tungabhadra in 1336 AD. According to the legends, they had been the feudatories of the Kakatiyas of Warangal. Later they became ministers in the kingdom of Kampili. After the destruction of Kampili kingdom by Bin Tuglaq they were imprisoned and converted to Islam. The name Chhattisgarh, meaning “thirty-six forts,” was formerly applied to the territory of the Haihaya dynasty of Ratanpur, founded about 750.
