The Mission of WIPO is to promote innovation and creativity for the economic, social and cultural development of all countries.
It is headquartered at Geneva, Switzerland. WIPO’s predecessor was The United International Bureaux for the Protection of Intellectual Property (BIPRI). It administered two conventions such as Paris convention and Berne convention for the protection of Industrial property and literary & artistic works respectively.Marrakesh Treaty of the WIPO – It is to facilitate access to published works for persons who are blind, visually impaired and print disabled. India was the first country to sign this treaty.
