Great Lakes of North America are a series of interconnected freshwater lakes which connect to the Atlantic Ocean through the Saint Lawrence Seaway.Consisting of Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario . Superior, Huron, Michigan, Erie, and Ontario [In the order of largest to smallest].Lake Superior is the largest continental lake in the world by area, and Lake Michigan is the largest lake that is entirely within one country.

Lake Baikal is situated in Siberia , Russia. It is the deepest lake and world largest lake by volume. It is also the second longest lake.
(c)Lake Tanganyika
It is situated in African rift valley system. It is the longest lake in the world. It is also second largest in terms of volume.
(d)Aral sea
It is classical example of human intervention leading to the shrinking of the water bodies. This lake is situated between Kazkasthan in the North and Uzbekistan in the south . Aral sea has been shrinking since 1960s due to the diversion of the river feeding it for irrigation purpose.
