- Over 4.52l farmers to benefit from ‘krishak jeevan jyoti yojana’
- Under State Government’s ‘Krishak Jeevan Jyoti Yojana’, Rs 2,975 crores have been provisioned in the Budget of new fiscal year 2018-19, for electricity supply at concessional rates to farmers of Chhattisgarh for irrigation, officials informed.
- More than 4.52 lakh farmers will be benefited by this initiative.
- Chief Minister Raman Singh informed that State Government will be spending Rs 2975 crore for Krishak Jeevan Jyoti Yojana in the new fiscal year.
- Under the scheme, 1.19 lakh out of 4.52 lakh farmers of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe category, who have got the electricity connection, are being provided total free electricity supply.
- Under the scheme, provisions of free electricity upto 6000 unit for pumps of 3,000 horsepower and 7500 unit for pumps of 3-5 horsepower capacity has been made for farmers of other categories.
- Saur Sujala Yojana is being conducted for this purpose since year 2016. Under this scheme, nominal share is taken from farmers for installation of solar irrigation pumps in their farms.
- The Chief Minister informed that under this scheme that started from November 1, 2016, state government has set the target to benefit 51,000 farmers under the scheme by March 31, 2019, i.e. within three fiscal years. Till date, 25 ,000 farmers have availed the scheme and got the solar irrigation pump installed in their farms. This includes 15 ,000 farmers of SC/ST category.
- Singh informed that under Saur Sujala Scheme, the irrigation pump of three horsepower capacity worth nearly Rs 3.50 lakh is provided to farmers of SC/ST category at nominal rate of Rs 7000, and to the farmers of OBC category at nominal rate of Rs 12,000 while for farmers of general category , this pumps is provided for Rs 18,000 only.
- Singh further informed that under Saur Sujala Yojana, solar irrigation pump of 3 horsepower capacity worth Rs 4.50 lakh in market, is provided at nominal rate of Rs 10,000 to farmers of SC/ST category and at Rs 15,000 to the farmers of OBC category, while farmers of general category can get this solar irrigation pump at Rs 20,000 only. Saur Sujala Yojana is being conducted by CREDA- public undertaking of Energy Department, in association with Agriculture Department.

· Marshall Islands to launch world-first digital legal tender
- The Marshall Islandsin the Pacific Ocean is set to become the first country in the world to recognize cryptocurrency as its legal tender and adopt transparent cryptocurrency as its legal tender and adopt the transparent crypto monetary system.
- The parliament of the island has passed a law to create the digital currency call called “Sovereign” with symbol SOV to raise some hard cash to pay bills and boost the economy.
- The Marshall Islands is partnering with Israeli fintech startup Neema to launch its SOV.
- It will have equal status with US dollar as a form of payment.
- SOV issued by the Marshall Islands will be different from other cryptocurrencies including bitcoin because it will be officially recognized by law as legal documents.
· Myanmar puts off border agreement with India
- Myanmar has indefinitely deferred signing agreement with India to streamline the free movement of people within 16 km along the open border between two countries.
- It has cited domestic compulsions and has asked for more time for the agreement to be sealed.
- Background India and Myanmar share 1,643 km unfenced border along four states viz. Arunachal Pradesh (520 km), Nagaland (215 km), Manipur (398 km) and Mizoram (510 km) and permit free movement regime.
- To give it shape, Central Government had asked four border states with Myanmar to distribute “border pass” to all the residents living within 16 km.
- The agreement will facilitate movement of people on basis of valid passports and visas which will enhance economic and social interaction between two places.

- The leg-spinner from Afghanistan, Rashid Khan (19-year-old) become the youngest captain in international cricket history.
- He now holds the ICC No. 1 rank for bowlers in both the ODIs and T20Is and also became the youngest player ever to hold the top spot for any form of ICC men’s ranking.
